Sex and Politics is an international group exhibition held in Paris and presented by Art Icon. The exhibition explores how sexuality, desire and personal identity intersect with cultural structures and political influence.

Through contemporary photography and visual narratives, the exhibition brings together artists whose work examines the body as symbol, expression and contested space. Andreas Varro was selected for the exhibition based on his visual storytelling and thematic focus on human behavior, societal pressures and the psychological landscape of modern life.

For this exhibition, the curators chose to present his artwork If I Die Before I Wake. The piece reflects on how the awareness of death shapes the way people act, feel and search for meaning. It examines the tension between our instinct to embrace life fully and the human tendency to deny the reality of finality, offering a quiet reminder of how mortality influences both ambition and avoidance.

The exhibition was curated by Danila Tkachenko and Slavica Veselinović, two curators based in Milan and Paris and central figures within Art Icon. Art Icon is a cultural non profit organization dedicated to photography, contemporary art and interdisciplinary visual practices.
