Expectations

As we take our steps on life’s rocky road,
we find that others decide what we were
made for.

We search for meaning, but we only find
things, which are supposed to make us
feel happy, beautiful, and thin.

On this journey we learn that our own
success is only a moment for others,
the only person whose attention we
need is our own.

In the end no one cares what we did, but
we will care about the ways we wasted
our time.

Looking back, there is but one road.
